Puttin' Out Fires   Run Time: 2:45

Written by Bill Mallonee for CyBrenJoJosh (BMI) ©2001

back in the uk still i can't come down
your life's a live wire you can't seem to ground
my thoughts are criminal and a bit obscene
yeah puttin' out fire yeah with gasoline

disney world trailer park from here to kingdom come
when every moment is a red light a red light you just run
you learn to read the lines that are in between
yeah puttin' out fire yeah with gasoline

fly the friendly skies finally coming home
i'll keep you close to me yeah baby like a cell phone
my thoughts are criminal and a bit obscene
yeah puttin' out fire yeah with gasoline

Did You Know?

The title for "Puttin' Out Fires" was inspired by the David Bowie song, "Cat People (Putting Out Fire)" from his 1983 release, Let's Dance. In concert, Bill will at times play a cover of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart," which leads into "Puttin' Out Fires." Add a few degrees of separation and we find that Joy Division transformed into New Order, who wrote the song "Love Vigilantes," which was Bill's inspiration for naming his band "Vigilantes of Love." Not surprisingly, this song came about in the UK.
