She Is Fading   Run Time: 4:08

Written by Bill Mallonee for CyBrenJoJosh (BMI) ©2001

summer shine and everything
that makes the woeful heart to sing
chances better than you think
throw your hat into the ring
check your pulse hope all is well
reverse spin on the carousel
glitter kids under the radio spell
the soft voice and the hard sell

transparent there you stagger
fall and tell her all that matters
she's not saying she is fading

and all of yesterday's parties
are hollow through and through
if you ask me if you ask me
he always took the best of you
oh to hold you once again
wipe away your tears
you are such a welcome sight
in my rearview mirror

Did You Know?

Bill's explanation: Our hero, initially bouyed by the evening's starry sky, the general elan of the party's steady progress, decides to risk his declarations of devotion to his beloved during a suitable and private moment ("fall and tell her all that matters") only to be met with a stony response of disinterest, embarassment resulting in further disquietude ("she's not saying... she is fading") one lonely guitar... (one lonely take)... a Rickenbaker through a Fender twin... I believe the ghost of Keith Moon did make an appearance here... Jake Entwistle chugging away on the 8th notes... "all of yesterdays parties"... a reference to the Velvet Underground's Andy Warholian haze days of empty pleasure...

Appeared On…
