    About Resplendent (Audibly Live)

Recorded in 1999 with band members Kenny Hutson, Jake Bradley and Kevin Heuer, Resplendent was only released in the UK. There are only 600 copies available in the United States (apparently that is all Bill's suitcase can hold).

    Quotes from Bill Mallonee

Jul 6, 2001: We did about a seventy minute set of the stuff that was on To the Roof of the Sky and Audible Sigh. Two guitars, bass and drums, real fast paced, it was Kevin and Jake and me and Kenny.

Jul 1, 2004: Looking back: I think we should have taken a more aggressive role in saying: "Look, this is OUR music... LEGALLY... and we're goning to see that it gets out there and we're going to see that everyone is equally compensated for what they did to insure it's creation in the first place." We didn't do that... and so, due to stagnation at different turns, the record and DVD languished.... That's cost us in terms of impact.... It's languished probably FAR past the point where it could have made a better mark. I talked with Kenny Hutson yesterday for over and hour... and we loved rememebering the good, good moments of VOL.... I'd have put that "live" version of that band up against anyone.... We both think that a "retorspective" record/DVD such as Audibly Live would have had supreme expresso punch had it been released the year after the band broke up... it'd have been a nice "So Long, Ya'll!"

Jan 19, 2005: I must admit a twinge of sadness when I saw it in the UK a year ago.... Sadness in that that particular version of VOL disbanded right after that tour.... Poor Kenny was just tired, fried and burned out waiting for the golden apple of sweet aromatic magnificence and perpetual record deal blessing to appear... LOL! (silly kid!) That and we were all broke financially, emotionally and kinda trusting no one... just really sick inside of what felt like "being denied." Life gets weird inside the four walls of a van you know.... A classic case of a glass being perceived as half empty for Ken and half full for the rest of us... but one has to do what one has to do—that's what friends let friends do sometime, ya' know?... no issues there, at least not anymore.

Jan 19, 2005: So enjoy that "era" of Vigilantes of Love, folks... via DVD! It was a good one! I'm so proud to have been a part of it... really, I think we all compare notes and look back wistfully. You can quote me here: the only thing I ever wanted in [this] life was to write, play and sing my songs with an ass-kicking group... and we were that on that night in Cheltenham, England at the Axiom... and every night I ever was privileged to take a stage with those fellas...
