Prison   Year: 2008 | Run Time: 4:24

Written by Bill Mallonee for CyBrenJoJosh (BMI)

take the voice of the martyrs stammering up their tongues
of the men and women of this earth and the salt that they'll become
scraping by just to stay alive conditions brutish and mean
victims of a system that crushes every dream

you built for them a prison with your blood and sweat and pride
brick by brick beneath the sick greed behind their eyes
you built for them a prison while they plotted your demise
bait and switch till the padlock clicks and you find you're locked inside
(bait and switch till the padlock clicks right before your eyes)

take the prayers of the unwashed and the curses of the clean
history tells the tale with the Bible some graves and a full magazine
but their darkness if it triumphs it's only for a night
because the light it never goes out always one ember burning bright

take the voice of the poor man the tear stains on his face
write them in a chorus of amazing grace

Appeared On…
