Star Maps   Year: 2004 | Run Time: 3:04

Written by Bill Mallonee for CyBrenJoJosh (BMI)

give us new beginnings the old ones don't fit anymore
i tried them on just like an old suit it was moth-eaten and what's more
it's as good a place as any to throw caution to the wind
when your spirit it is cramped and it's needing to be cleansed

so help me God if i recover if i recover from this wound
and i live to tell the tale i will sing a different tune
one permeated with symphonic strains when nothing else could be heard
it is one of resurrection when death thought it had the last word

and the star maps they're all useless navigation so suspect
you have wandered in these regions till your fuse of hope connected (intersected)
with the dynamite of grace and the fresh struck match of faith

it's the marking of the moments when hope was growing dim
and you hold your life up to the light as if it were a film
it is one all full of sadness it is one all full of shame
it was empty of all but madness with each clicking of the frame

you know this could be more serious than when we first believed
what we found on the periphery was more than we conceived
and the white keys were the obvious so the black ones were what you hit
and the worst thing about the darkness is when you've gotten used to it

Did You Know?

This is an outtake from Friendly Fire.

Appeared On…
