Stomach Hurt   Year: 2007 | Run Time: 6:01

Written by Bill Mallonee for CyBrenJoJosh (BMI)

you were lonely and i was spent
and i forgot the coordinates
and my maps were torn and rent
so i ran reconnaissance

in my dreams to where you'd fly
thank you Lord for stopping by
i have never gotten far
i have never seen the stars

you were wrecked and i was lost
another living holocaust
build your babel to the stars
but it could be a house of cards

yes and when it all fell in
i thought Lord this is the end
what you'll leave up and in
just to save your own skin

from the sin that we all hallow
to the heaven we profane
there's a face there in the mirror
but it doesn't have a name

heard your stern voice through the door
where i was huddled on the floor
you badgered me about what i wasn't worth
i remember my stomach hurt

and it followed me for years
down a corridor of fear
my guitar heart and a cruel mirror
ah but nothing could be clear

from the sin that we all hallow
to heaven we profane
there's a face there in the portrait
but it didn't have a name

so i left you just today
seemed i'd fallen out of grace
left with sunlight on my face
still it never penetrates

to this field ravaged by crows
??? rain you old scarecrow
and all my friends gone and then
weeds and rust settled in

did you walk here by design
did you fall here by choice
singing all these words you wrote
with someone else's voice

now the guilt comes in waves
and the shame is like a storm
innocence it lies bleeding
on those chapel hill stones

Appeared On…
