Red Van   Year: 2007 | Run Time: 4:50

Written by Bill Mallonee for CyBrenJoJosh (BMI)

it all started in a red van
used to belong to a frisco band
had a drummer once
who swore it was the color of pain
me well i was empty
fall out betrayal and more
i was living in judas skin
with one eye on the door

dreaming sometimes get born
when you're beat up (aching) tired and worn
you're starving for some wisdom
and a (different) coping mechanism
and if you get to dream your dreams
make sure they get a name
keep them from the cold
keep them from the flame

i remember you all wild eyed
crawling into the passenger side
flash flood conversation
all the way to long island she said
i heard that you can write songs
i said oh i've done a few
she said would you write me a love song
i said baby i do

are you a man of peace
go on you better think twice
does it rule your tongue
does it rule your life
it's all red van confusion
saw flash flood storm
peace well i can conceive of it
but how does it get born

Did You Know?

Bill explains, "Tom Crea, ex-VOL drummer through the slow dark train days always commented on a particular red van Enterprise Rent-a-Car would rent us... It was a lurid candy-apple red, that Tom affectionately referred to it as the 'color of pain.' Playful, thoughtful guitar pop."
